How can an image become a STEP solid?
The converter cleans and traces artwork into closed contours, creates CAD wires, and extrudes solid geometry using OpenCascade. STEP is exported directly from these solids. An intermediate STL is not required. Outline fidelity depends on source quality, resolution, and smoothing.
Build a real solid
Raised, engraved, standalone, and layered artwork becomes solid BREP geometry before STEP export.
Continue the design in CAD
Import the STEP solid into a CAD application. The file contains geometry, not the original sketch constraints or feature history.

Can I download a STEP file today?

Do I need to convert my image to STL first?

Will this reconstruct an entire object from a photo?
No. Artwork modes add depth to cleaned outlines. Relief and lithophane modes build a shallow surface from image brightness. They do not infer hidden geometry.
